The Script Editor panel is ordered alphabetically by default:

You can change this by dragging-and-dropping scripts up and down, but your custom sort doesn't stick on closing and re-opening Godot.

Is there a way to permanently change the ordering of this panel, or at least have my custom sorting stick? Note that this question refers to Godot's script editor UI, and not a UI built into a game.

Acetylcholine but your custom sort doesn't stick on closing and re-opening Godot

It actually does if you set sorting to "none" in Editor->Editor Settings->Text Editor->Script List->Sort Scripts By

Interesting question. I've never used that panel, I always just click on the paper icon next to the node. But I could see how a custom order would be useful.

Thanks Darr - I was looking for a setting like this! I didn't realise there was a whole, separate settings area for the editor 🤦

That answers my question and solves the issue for me.
