Yeoman | Grunt | No such file or directory - bower.json

Question

Using 'yo angular' I created AngularJS seed application.

Trying to run the application using 'grunt serve' is giving this error:-

Why it is looking for bower.json inside app folder? It is present one level up.

How can I fix this?

Under wiredep task you are using yeoman.app and that is pointing to app: require('./bower.json').appPath || 'app', so because of that it is looking for bower.json in directory – Industrious

chekc if bower.json is in that path or not if not then either change the path or move your boer file to that directory – Industrious

tried. didn't help. shouldn't the seed project have it correct? – Panta

I had the same problem try commenting the line 166 in your Gruntfile.js :

I did it and it should look like this :

Then run again your server with :

grunt serve

This worked for me, but why? Why doesn't grunt serve work as it should? I like the fact that this solution fixed my issue, but feel 'dirty' doing it, if that makes sense! – Centigrade

Hi, I am not sure but I believe that the command commented a indicate the wrong path for the bower.json file. Because bower.json is in your project directory and not into your app directory... Does it answer your question ? – Whimsical

But why? The whole idea for Yeoman, Bower and Grunt working together is that you don't have to deal with this kind of malarkey every time. It's really frustrating. – Damon

It's a bug they corrected it in the last version like Eddie said. But even if Yeoman, Bower and Grunt work well together you still need to learn how to configure your gruntfile.js – Whimsical

You are using an out of date version of the generator. You should update it before using it: npm update -g generator-angular. The newest version has a fix for this.

I had this same problem.

First I commented out line 166, but that didn't fix the problem.

The following plus the commenting out of line 166 did the trick:

Re-install wiredep

$ npm install --save-dev grunt-wiredep

Install dependencies

$ bower install jquery --save

Run wiredep

$ grunt wiredep

Then run your app

$ grunt serve
