According to the issue tracker of Chromium, it was marked as "fixed":

https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40242054

A workaround which I think isn't needed anymore:

<queries>
    <package android:name="com.google.android.webview" />
    <package android:name="com.google.android.webview.beta" />
    <package android:name="com.google.android.webview.dev" />
    <package android:name="com.google.android.webview.canary" />
    <package android:name="com.google.android.webview.debug" />
    <package android:name="com.android.webview" />
</queries>
