Use declare styleable to set custom component input type

I have a CompositeComponent (EditText+ImageButton) When clicking on button the edittext content will be cleared. It is working fine. My problem is setting attributes to my component. I am using declare-styleable to set attributes to my component.

I am successful at setting minLines, maxLines and textColor.

How can I set inputtype to my component via xml.

my attributes.xml

I cant use ENUM in my attribute.xml. How to refer android:inputType="numberSigned" in my cet:InputType?

This is how I assign properties in my ClearableEditText.java

You can see there is no problem with assigning the inputType property to editText.

I didn't get any error. Its working fine. I don't know how to assign the input type?? instead of giving raw integer value I want to use the enum (android:inputtype) in android.Ullman

Lets say you have a custom view named InputView, which is not a TextView (lets say its a RelativeLayout).

In your attrs.xml:

I know this is a very old post but I was wondering if there is a way to make eclipse display the suggestions like it does for an edittext?Jeremiah
I wasn't able to make eclipse show suggestions. Maybe it'll work in the future updates of adt.Wondrous
Does this Code work ? Because i did everything as is written here but in my custom class I can't get inputType attribute. can't resolve this line: case R.styleable.InputView_android_inputType:Alkylation
Check that attrs.xml contains <attr name="android:inputType"/> tag inside InputView element and that you import your own R file, not android.R file.Wondrous

use this in your attr.xml for the suggestions . the use of flags give the suggestions in xml while using edittext. the custom:inputType="text" and it will suggest you the addition types. to add more flags use this link Visit https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/refs/heads/master/core/res/res/values/attrs.xml

Okay, so I know this question is pretty old but I found the REAL correct answer.

I found the attrs.xml file in here that Android uses and every declare_styleable is there, so from the standard attributes you can find the inputType attribute that is defined as below

So you have 2 choices, if you need to change the name of inputType to another name (i.e title_inputType) then you need to copy all of this over, but if you need to keep the same name, then use Alexey's answer

I managed to do it with raw int value: I think it is not good practice. I can assign raw values like this: cet:InputType="2"

2 for number (Referred for values: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/text/InputType.html#TYPE_CLASS_NUMBER and http://developer.android.com/reference/android/R.styleable.html#TextView_inputType)

I believe <attr name="InputType" format="reference" /> can help but don't know how to use it.
