9PatchRect is not stretching correctly

Question

My idea is that it would stretch like this:

but it is stretching like this:

here is how it is sliced, I know it's wrong but I can't come up with a right way to do it

Maybe move the two vertical lines to just inside of the purple rectangle?

I tried this, it reduced the length of the lines but it still didn't look the way I expected

I just mocked up your image and tried it and got the same results you did. I'm not sure if you can get the results you are looking for. You may have to settle. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Hopefully, someone will be along soon that knows more about NinePatchRects than I do.
