Whenever I run index.js in nodejs I get this error message.

This error only comes up when I try to add this line of code

const PrettyTable = require('prettytable');

I'm creating a bot, and I would like to send a message in tabular form but when I try to add require('pretty table') if gives me the error above.

Things I've tried: Installed prettytable with npm, Deleted node_modules and reinstalled every package, Run npm update But nothing has worked.

Here is the node_modules\csv-parse\package.json file for reference

require('cvs-parse/sync'). Because there is a mapping in exports for the subpath ./sync not ./lib/sync.Gal
You need to ask the prettytable maintainer to use a specific version of cvs-parse or update their require statement. There is nothing you can do except hack prettytable within node_modules to modify the require statement.Gal

Encountered a similar issue with the csv-stringify package running node.js v18.15.0 which was resolved using the same fix (replacing "./sync" with "./lib/sync" in csv-stringify's package.json file).

Submitted a github issue with this info the package's repository.

--- Update ---

For my case, this turned out to be due to using an outdated method for importing the synchronous stringify function. As also mentioned in the updated github issue, the import signature apparently changed between csv-stringify versions 5.5.3 and 6.3.0 from:

const stringify = require('csv-stringify/lib/sync');

to

const { stringify } = require('csv-stringify/sync');

Updating this import line resolved my issue.

This works. I was also previously requiring the csv module itself and then doing csv.stringify(), but that no longer works and must be required separately like in your solution.Aslant

I fixed the problem by modifying exports in node_modules\csv-parse\package.json. I switched it from "./sync" to "./lib/sync" as one of the comments stated. Thanks for the help.

Crusted answered 14/4, 2022 at 18:5 Comment(1)
It would be better long-term to get the dependency fixed by encouraging the maintainer to either merge my PR or fix the issue themselves. Your app will break during deployment or whenever you reinstall unless you write a script to automate the modification of node_modules.Gal
