I am getting the following error when trying to run my react-native app with android and I am unsure why, any ideas?

*Where: Build file '/Users/ahmeeyagoldman/Documents/TikTok/android/app/build.gradle' line: 123

  • What went wrong: A problem occurred evaluating project ':app'.

No signature of method: build_26i9j525hbm41pwpexiy08g68.android() is applicable for argument types: (build_26i9j525hbm41pwpexiy08g68$_run_closure1) values: [build_26i9j525hbm41pwpexiy08g68$_run_closure1@6ee8b6f5] My build.gradle file:

So far I have tried to:

  • upgrade and downgrade my gradle, -clean and rebuild the project, -Invalidate caches/Restart, -Comment out new lines of code,
  • Edit my configuration (didn't change much)

I can get an android application to run using react-native if I try another project but this one is throwing errors. Something to note I am not sure if it matters but this is connected to AWS.

This might help you #61808020Chesterchesterfield
Thanks that article was definitely helpful. It took me down the path of commenting everything out until I found the error.Wormeaten

The error is found in the "multidexEnabled true" it should be "multiDexEnabled true" with a capital D in Dex.

If anyone ever runs into this same error again I would suggest that you begin to comment out every line of code that falls under android until you find the error.

The error is just referring to some syntax error in your code which may defer from someone else's program with the same error response.

i have issue when i add useProguard true but i dont know what error in this lineConsortium
suggestion that you begin to comment out every line of code that falls under android helped me solve the error.Venable
I had this variable in a correct case but still had this problemStarch
in my case, i removed 'useProguard true' and it works!!Gora

This might be old, but the solution is to comment out the useProguard on app\build.gradle

#useProguard true
#proguardFiles getDefaultProguardFile('proguard-android.txt'), 'proguard-rules.pro'

I had a similar problem with setting up Firebase:

  • they do not tell you (though it is probably obvious...) that you should also add classpath 'com.google.gms:google-services:4.3.15' dependency (since you use the plugin)
  • they tell you to add 'apply plugin' lines at the top of your android/app/build.gradle file which is easy to miss

In general: apparently, gradle cannot find (resolution of some) used function in the gradle build file - because of missing plugin / old gradle version, etc.

I got this error after changing versionCode to decimal value in app/build.gradle. The error was removed by changing the decimal number with positive integer(1,2,3...etc).

This problem is common in Flutter 2.8

  1. Delete Folder with all sub Folder of C:\Users\LENOVO\.gradle

  2. Go File menu > Setting (Ctrl+Alt+S) Go Appearance & Behaviour > System Setting > Android SDK > SDK Tool Tab and then uncheck Android SDK Build-Tool press OK Button 3)Run Project (Shift+F10) in Andriod Studio it will Download all required file from internet and your issue resolve

    enter image description here

After if issue is Not resolve then Second Step is:

  1. Go > android\app\build.gradle in your project Please Add > minSdkVersion 19 or 20 // Remove it because, 16 is by default minSdkVersion in flutter 2.8 //minSdkVersion flutter.minSdkVersion
  2. add multiDexEnabled true if file size incress from limits
