If you take a look inside bin/nutch
script, you'll see that it invokes a Java class corresponding to your command:

CLASS=org.apache.nutch.fetcher.Fetcher2
elif [ "$COMMAND" = "parse" ] ; then
CLASS=org.apache.nutch.parse.ParseSegment
elif [ "$COMMAND" = "readdb" ] ; then
CLASS=org.apache.nutch.crawl.CrawlDbReader

CLASS=org.apache.nutch.indexer.IndexMerger

CLASS=org.apache.nutch.plugin.PluginRepository

CLASS='org.apache.nutch.searcher.DistributedSearch$Server'
else
CLASS=$COMMAND
fi
# run it
exec "$JAVA" $JAVA_HEAP_MAX $NUTCH_OPTS -classpath "$CLASSPATH" $CLASS "$@"
From there on, it's only the question of looking at the API docs and, if necessary, source code for those classes.
