jQuery: Access frame in nested frameset

Solved javascript jquery frames frameset

I have a document which has a nested frameset. I need to access one of the nested frames, named "sq_main", and access content inside this frame. Here is my structure:

Sadly, I can't change the code, that is why I need to access it with jQuery. I have tried to write a jQuery selector to access the "sq_main" frame, but no luck so far:

$('body', parent.frames[0].sq_main).prepend('<h1>TEST!!!!</h1>');

Ideas on how to drill down into this ugly structure? :)

I can't find sq_main in your example; is the code above the content of sq_main or is the example missing something? – Athalie 31/5, 2010 at 7:4

Try to navigate one step at a time. IIRC, the frames array only works with iframes. Try the selector frame[name = 'sq_main'] instead.

Example by Ronny Sherer:

var frameDocument = $('frame[name="mainFrame"]', top.document)[0].contentDocument;
$(frameDocument).find('body').prepend('<h1>TEST!!!!</h1>');

I tried: alert($("frame[name = 'sq_main']").children('#sq-search-wait-popup-details').text()); But that does not seem to work.. – Issuable 31/5, 2010 at 18:34

@mohit: Sure but I suggest to assign IDs to the frames, so you can use getElementById() Otherwise, get the elements by tag and search the result. – Athalie 6/9, 2011 at 11:40
